Michael Mossman
Michael Phillip Mossman is one of the world's foremost composers/arrangers in
the world of Afro-Caribbean Jazz. He has composed and arranged music for the
legendary Mario Bauza, Tito Puente, Ray Barretto, Eddie Palmieri, Paquito D'Rivera,
Joe Henderson, The Carnegie Hall Jazz Orchestra, and the Mingus Big Band.
Michael Mossman has performed as trumpeter/trombonist with a virtual who's
who of the jazz world including Horace Silver, Art Blakey, Joe Zawinal, Mckoy
Tyner,
Michel Camilo, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Slide Hampton, Jimmy Heath, and many others.
He has performed and recorded classical works with various symphony and chamber
orchestras in New York and abroad.
His most recent CDs, Spring Dance and Mama Soho feature his own unique mix
of Latin and straight ahead material performed by all star ensembles.
Michael Mossman is jazz director at Queens College/City University of
New York. He has given clinics worldwide on Afro-Caribbean Jazz arranging
as
well as in
jazz improvisation and composition, music business, and brass. He is sponsored
by Yamaha Corporation of America.
