Rebeca Mauleón Bio

Rebeca Mauleón is a renowned musician, bandleader, composer, producer, author, and educator. She is an expert in Afro-Cuban and Latin Jazz, with a career spanning nearly four decades. Mauleón has worked with many Grammy-winning artists, including Tito Puente and Carlos Santana, and has created a variety of compositions, including symphonic works and music for film. She has written acclaimed books like Salsa Guidebook and 101 Montunos, and co-authored Decoding Afro-Cuban Jazz. Mauleón has received several awards, including Meet The Composer’s New Residencies Award and the San Francisco Jazz Festival’s Beacon Award. She teaches music history and leads the Latin Jazz Ensemble at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and City College of San Francisco.
