Oscar Hernández is a celebrated pianist and arranger in Latin, Latin-jazz, and salsa music, with a career lasting over 40 years. He leads the Spanish Harlem Orchestra (SHO), which has released seven CDs and received multiple Grammy nominations and awards, including wins for “Across 110th Street,” “Viva La Tradición,” and “Anniversary. ” SHO is recognized as one of the leading salsa and Latin-jazz orchestras globally.

Hernández started his professional career in the 1970s, collaborating with influential artists such as Ismael Miranda, Ray Barreto, and Celia Cruz. He played a significant role in shaping the music of the Rubén Blades Band, particularly “Seis Del Solar. ” As an in-demand pianist, arranger, and producer, Hernández has worked with renowned artists like Paul Simon, Willie Colón, and Juan Luis Guerra, as well as his own band, Seis Del Solar.

In addition to performing, Oscar has served as a musical director and producer for various projects, including the Broadway musical “The Capeman” and shows like “Quien Mato A Hector Lavoe” and “La Lupe. ” His studio work includes contributions to commercials and documentaries, such as HBO’s “Ring of Fire: The Emile Griffith Story. ”

Hernández has also released solo albums, “The Art of Latin Jazz” and “Love The Moment,” and arranged music for Gloria Estefan’s Broadway musical “On Your Feet. ” He remains a highly sought-after pianist, composer, and bandleader in the music industry.
