Joe Gallardo Bio
Latin Jazz holds a special place in Joe Gallardo’s heart. His journey began in the late sixties when he played trombone on Luis Gasca’s first LP in New York, where he connected with notable Latin jazz artists and jazz legends. Moving to Germany in 1978, he formed a group named “Latino Blue” and recorded his first German LP. He joined the NDR Big Band in 1991, where he introduced Latin jazz compositions internationally. A celebration for his 60th birthday featured his music with renowned musicians. In 2002, he revived “Latino Blue” and released a CD titled “A Latin Shade of Blue,” performing at major jazz festivals. Recently, with Skip Records and the NDR Big Band, he recorded a new big band CD, appreciating the enthusiastic support from everyone involved.
