Jovino Santo Neto Bio
Jovino Santos Neto is a renowned musician from Brazil, recognized for his skills as a pianist, composer, and arranger. He has been an important figure in Brazilian music and is currently based in Seattle, Washington. He was part of the famous group led by Hermeto Pascoal from 1977 to 1992, which greatly shaped his musical career. Jovino’s music blends energetic rhythms, deep harmonies, and improvisation, drawing inspiration from different Brazilian styles like samba and choro.
He leads both a Quinteto and Trio in Seattle and taught at Cornish College of the Arts for 26 years. Since moving to the U. S. in 1993, he has been actively touring and recording, receiving multiple Latin Grammy nominations for his works, including “Canto do Rio” and “Alma do Nordeste. ” Jovino has collaborated with many prominent musicians and has performed with various symphony orchestras and jazz bands.
He has also received numerous commissions, taught worldwide, and has contributed to the music community through lectures and workshops. His compositions have been featured by notable orchestras and jazz groups. Jovino was inducted into the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame in 2012 and has achieved several awards throughout his career, solidifying his impact on the music scene.
