Alex Norris Bio
Trumpet player Alexander Pope Norris has worked with famous musicians like Betty Carter and the Village Vanguard Band, as well as modern artists such as Joshua Redman and Marvin Smitty Smith. He began exploring Latin Jazz with the Baltimore group Rumba Club and collaborated with Afro-Cuban jazz artists. Norris has appeared on over 60 CDs, including his own album, “A New Beginning. ” He toured with Steve Winwood and Miami Sound Machine, highlighting his pop music background. Norris graduated from the Peabody Conservatory, earned a master’s from the Manhattan School of Music, and a doctorate from the University of Miami. He teaches at Peabody Conservatory and remains active in NYC as an artist and clinician..
