Vince Norman Bio
Vince Norman, son of jazz saxophonist Ray Norman, has been surrounded by music his entire life. He first discovered jazz in Junior High, and by high school, he had his first gig with the Rick Swyden Big Band. Originally from Del City, Oklahoma, Vince built much of his career in the Washington DC area as a freelance musician and a member of The U. S. Army Field Band. He played with “The Jazz Ambassadors” and joined the arranging staff later. His performances took him on concert tours across Europe, Japan, India, Mexico, Canada, and all 50 states except Alaska.
Vince has worked with many notable musicians and groups, including Arturo Sandoval, The National Symphony, and The Cincinnati Pops at venues like Carnegie Hall. He has composed numerous works for jazz ensembles and orchestral pops, including for the Capitol Saxophone Quartet. In the Oklahoma City area, he performs regularly and works as an assistant band director at Oklahoma Christian School and as a jazz improvisation professor at Oklahoma Christian University.
Vince has released two CDs with the Vince Norman/Joe McCarthy Big Band and played with the Latin jazz group Afro Bop Alliance. His latest album, “Sphericality,” is available on streaming platforms. He is also a Cannonball Musical Instruments endorsing artist.
